Make it 73 for 2007!

In 2006 I read 75 books and in 2007 I made it to 73 - but that's okay b/c one of my goals was to read less and sell one piece of my writing -- and I did both!

72 was "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer - a great read and 73 was "T is for Trespass" by Sue Grafton - not my favorite of the alphabet books but one about a vital issue today - care of the elderly.

So, my goal for 2008 is to read less (I got five new books for Christmas!!) and sell more pieces of writing. I think I will succeed on both accounts.

Peace.

69, 70, 71...

A Johanna Lindsey, a Nora Roberts and a Danielle Steele. I need to read and not have to think too hard.

Now I'm on to vampires - Cool!!

I've also sent off the first three chapters of my novel. Wish me luck!!

Tick Tock...

Eight more days until Christmas and I may not make it!! I have woken up the past four mornings in the three o'clock hour having minor panic attacks.
I keep telling myself one day at a time!!

Last week my baby girl turned seven!! Where does the time go? She has grown into such a beautiful little lady full of spunk and creativity. I am so lucky to have her in my life!

Next week my mom and dad arrive in town. It will be so nice to see them but I have to many little tasks to take care of before then. Why do we as women insist on having our houses clean before our moms come over to visit? She may not get spotless but she'll at least get semi-clean!

One more pan of fudge to make and then I am done with my baking. Almost all of my presents are wrapped - only have one more to make and that should be it! Whoops, I have two more to buy but they'll be easy to take care of. The teacher gifts are made and ready to be handed out and the stocking stuffers are bought and hidden.

I just have to get through my GS meeting on Thursday and then I will be ready to relax and enjoy next week!!

Peace.

Childhood Memories

I am currently baking two loaves of bread, have four more to do, have to get Brynna soon, and am working on my book. Stressed to the max is what I am but I am also listening to my most favorite Christmas song ever, "Alfie, the Christmas Tree" by John Denver. I loved this album as a child and ever more as a parent.

Have you ever heard this song? If not, you are missing out. This song brings me such peace and reminds me what's important. It also makes me cry every time!!

Here's my favorite line...

"So in your Christmas prayers this year, Alfie asked me if I'd ask you, say a prayer for the wind, and the water, and the wood and those who live there too."

I ask the same of you.

Peace.

Two things...

...you should buy your best girlfriend (or yourself) for Christmas:

1. Josh Groban's "Noel"

2. "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert.

They're both mind and life altering. You'll thank me later!

Peace.

Great Lengths

I did it - I cut it all off today and it feels weird!! My neck is confused on the lack of weight but it feels good.
Donating it to Locks of Love feels best!!

Turkey Weekend

The countdown to Christmas is finally upon us.
Luckily I'm ahead of the game. All of my shopping nearly complete. Of course, that's what happens when you start shopping in August. Can't help it - don't want to strain the budget too much.

Turkey day has come and gone. The girls had a great time playing at the park with their cousins. I actually got my butt up at 5:15ish to go shopping the day after. My alarm clock was set for 3:30 but I decided sleep was more important than shopping. Luckily I was still able to get everything I wanted at a later hour. Then the rest of the family got up and we bought a new ceiling fan and toured the new mall. Keelee and I went to see "Enchanted" and I enjoyed watching Dr. Dreamy!

Today I took Keelee for a beautiful haircut and then met some friends to make holiday wreaths. I was going for whimiscal but ended up with elegant. Who knew?

I've just spent an hour working on my book. I need a break from that - it was getting too emotional doing revisions. Tomorrow is another day.

Peace.

No. 68

Just finished book number 68 for the year. "Everlasting" by Kathleen Woodiwiss was decent. She is one of my favorite authors and I just recently found out she passed away over the summer. I am so sad to have heard this. Her "The Wolf and the Dove" is one of my all time favorites. I shall miss her writing style but can always look upon my shelves for a quick read if need be.

On to number 69 - the newest Alice Sebold!

Peace.

I'm Free!!

I'm free! I'm free! I'm free!
No, I'm not for sale - I'm free of the boutique. Just a couple of more little tasks and I'm all done!!
Tonight was an interesting night. The baksets didn't get bid on like I thought they would but in the end all was well.

One more note on volunteering. People should be required to fill out a questionaire about their methods of getting things done and have to have a test to prove they are a good volunteer. I have run into a situation where two of us did the bulk of the work and one did a little and one did nothing. It's like damn group work in college - one person does all of the work and the group gets the credit. Worthless volunteers are just that - worthless. It's better if they just didn't help at all.

Anyway, I've said what I have to say on that!

Peace.

Teen Angst

My cousin Kendra got her heart broken the other night. Her first serious boyfriend dumped her via e-mail. How cowardly - but my Aunt told me that's how this generation does things. Still it's wrong!

She's a gorgeous girl and will quickly rebound with another young lad before she knows it. That's the glory of being older - you know it will always get better!!

Anyway, started book number 67 today. A Danielle Steele just to get my brain to unwind. This is going to be a very stressfilled week for me and I need brainless smut to get me through it. The boutique is almost over but I have to attend GS cookie training tonight. I can't even get one event done before the next one starts!!

Thursday night is the opening night gala and after three hours of frantic bidding my days with the boutique are over. No more volunteering for me and I mean it! Then Friday I will spend a peaceful with with my mother-in-law making holiday ornaments. Well maybe it won't be that peaceful - I'm not going at the whole art thing like she is, but I'll make it through.

Saturday will be heavenly and I can hardly wait!!

Peace.

Book 66

I finished book number 66 for 2007. "World Without End" by Ken Follett. It was a great tale of greed, coruption and love. It's barely been 20 since I finished and I already miss the characters.

All else is right in the world. I was watching "Oprah" today and cried my eyes out as fans got to meet Celine Dion. Why? I have no idea. I think I was just in a moment of happiness and wanted to share in their happiness. Damn hormones!

Peace.

Grandmothers

I just got word that my cousin's grandmother died. Grandma Doris was always kind to me and I remember visiting her many times in my youth. I know Cheryl, Jill and Chad will cherish her memory forever. And now Doris is with Fred and Jeff and they're all smiling down on the family.

I miss my grandma Helen at great deal at this time of the year. She died eight years ago this month. I was wrapping some Christmas presents with a pretty foil wrap and it reminded me of her. She LOVED foil wrapping paper!! My mom even bought her a roll one year just so she could look at it. We had a family reunion over the summer and I know she was there with us. I keep seeing a butterfly around us and told everyone that was grandma - the entire family agreed.

Anyway, if your grandma is close give her a quick hug and kiss. I'm sending my Oma a long distance one!

Peace.

Volunteering

A word on volunteering...
I've committed myself to being a Chair on a committee for my daughter's holiday boutique. Today I got a huge praise from one of the Co-Chairs and it was so nice to receive praise for my efforts. The director of the school has also given me praise for helping her. It made my heart happy.

The worst is yet to come b/c next week is the boutique and the craziness is becoming harder and harder to bare.

Plus GS cookie training starts next week too. Where one event ends another begins. Lucky me!

On a bright note I've been reading a great book "World Without End" by Ken Follett - it's the sequel to "Pillars of the Earth." Over 1,000 pages of greatness! I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Peace.
